New ABUS BSI* Cylinder Ranges

ABUS have introduced new TS007 BSI* cylinder ranges tested to BSI Kitemark Scheme TS007:2014 1 Star and approved to British Standard BS EN1303, which can be suited to either customer specific Y14 & Z14 Euro Profiles, or available on an open ABUS House Z14 section.

This Z14 open section BSI* range is available till the end of the year at promotional RRPs offering the 35/35 double at £33.00 RRP.  Customers with their own Z14 or Y14 profiles can upgrade their section to BSI* at normal special section RRPs.

New from Stahlwille – The MANOSKOP 730 Fix – It’s an adjustable wrench that you can “Fix”

The MANOSKOP 730 Fix – It’s an adjustable wrench that you can “Fix”.

For customers in industrial production environments, the use of ‘pre-set’ or ‘production’ torque wrenches has been the natural choice for many years. If the operator is repeating the same operation over and over on a production line, it is important to ensure that they cannot change the torque setting of the wrench, thus ensuring the product is manufactured to specification.

However, the customer often has to invest in an increasing number of ‘pre-set’ wrenches, preset at different torque settings for different applications. Alternatively, workshop torque testers are used to adjust the torque setting of the wrench for different tasks, or it is returned to the calibration lab for a torque setting change. This has been a bug-bear for many operators for some time.

The new MANOSKOP 730 Fix addresses this head on:

The 730 Fix is adjustable, with a scale, and is calibrated throughout the range.

The target torque can be set very quickly and easily using the QuickSelect knob.

The QuickSelect knob can then be unscrewed and removed by hand within seconds, without the use of any tools.

The TORX® TAMPER-RESISTANT screw (included) can be installed using the screwdriver bit (also included) and a bit driver.

Finally, as an extra measure, the self-adhesive cover (included) can be applied to cover the blanking screw.

Fein Dusts Off Powerful New Extractor Range

FEIN’s family of extractors is expanding with the addition of two new premium class, wet and dry extractors. Both are powerful and for the first time are equipped with automatic filter cleaning. The Dustex 35 MX AC is an M Class approved extractor (WEL > 0.1 mg/m 3) whilst the FEIN Dustex 35 LX AC is rated for L-classification extraction (WEL > 1.0 mg/m 3). Both machines come with a large number of special equipment features and extensive accessories making the tools suitable for multiple professional tasks on site or in the workshop.

Safety extractors for tradespeople are split into dust classes: L (Low), M (Medium) and H (High) depending on the risks associated with the dusts involved. Some wood dusts (such as beech and ash) and mineral dusts containing quartz fall under the M class. Since recognizing substances can be difficult, a safety extractor is advised on most sites.

The launch is also the first time FEIN has equipped its extractors with a fully automatic filter cleaning system. The innovative new AutoClean technology reverses the airflow every 15 seconds, blowing away any fine dust that may have settled in the filter back into the secondary deposable bag. Fitting the extractors with AutoClean allows for a consistently high suction force, meaning even large volumes of hazardous dust can be removed. Both dust extractors will work across wet and dry applications, reliably absorbing fine dusts and liquids.

This Auto clean system also extends the filter’s life considerably, meaning the machine can work continuously and uninterrupted for much longer because of less frequent filter changes. This approach is far more effective than the traditional closed filter bag system and makes the extractors more cost-effective. As well as being economical the premium class extractors guarantee above-average suction power with a 1380W turbine, a volumetric flow of 4,320 litres a minute and a 254-millibar vacuum.

Furthermore, FEIN has designed the new extractors so that its toolboxes and those from other manufacturers can be easily fitted onto the box holder. This special new design will allow users to move around site freely without complication. Toolboxes can also be secured with tension belts and the extractor’s 7.5m rubber cable and 4m hose provide users with a large working radius.

FEIN has also fitted the Dustex extractor with high-quality wheels that can be turned 360 degrees and locked securely on sloped surfaces. Additionally, with an extensive range of accessories supplied, the tool can be tailored to user’s needs. Included with each device are two suction pipes, an elbow, a floor nozzle, a crevice nozzle, two tool collars and an intake brush. Furthermore, models with M classification are fitted with an electrostatically discharging suction hose as standard. All accessories are compatible with the compact class and the hose and other accessories can be secured with an elastic band.

Available at specialist retailers, the Dustex 35MXAC has an SSP of £539.95 excluding VAT and the L classification Dustex 35LXAC dust at £429.95 excluding VAT. To find your nearest dealer or to find out more information about FEIN, please visit www.fein-uk.co.uk

STIHL choose CSL for spiral and sortation system

World leading manufacturer and distributer of power tools, STIHL, recently appointed Conveyor Systems Ltd (CSL) to streamline their order picking operation, which was previously carried out manually over a two tier mezzanine floor area. The process involved using pallet gates in conjunction with a fork lift truck to deliver palletised picked goods to the ground floor and was then done in reverse, to replenish stock to the relevant floors.

STIHL approached CSL with a brief to provide a semi-automated system to accommodate order picking and stock replenishment over two floors, with a fully reversible capability. They also required the ability to stop product between floors for consolidation. The challenge for CSL was to deliver a system that was both space efficient and featured a ‘bolt-on approach’ for future integration to the new WMS that would include Bar code reading, moving this forward to a fully automated system.

Due to the range of small items and spare parts being handled within this order picking application, all goods are transported in conventional totes. This provides uniformity and is a perfect fit for CSL’s range of standard tote conveyor systems and spiral elevator/lowerator.

CSL took a unique approach to combine a space efficient product that required no additional guarding or complicated controls – incorporating two spirals, one stacked upon the other.  In essence they are two machines, operating as one solution, providing an infeed and outfeed from the first floor and delivering to either the ground or second floor using the same common conveyors.

From the second floor, totes are loaded onto a conveyor and transported down to the first floor via the top spiral lowerator. Here, a manual sort determines whether the tote requires removal for order consolidation or placing onto the next conveyor and spiral lowerator to be taken to ground level, where another manual sort takes place.  On completion of orders, the finished totes are presented to a transit conveyor to be transferred to the end of line packing operation.  Stock replenishment operates in reverse.

CSL provided the full turnkey conveyor project including control, installation and commissioning of the wide range of packages.

ABUS Padlock triumphs over another very determined burglar!

We know that padlock security can’t always stop a burglar, but we do know that good security buys time, and the better the system the more time it will buy.

That is exactly what happened to at the Granary Barn, Worcestershire.  At around 11pm, Mr Harris was alerted by noises at his recently converted Granary Barn.  The noise came from his ABUS 83WPIB/53 padlock withstanding some serious leverage from a stillson type wrench, buying Mr Harris enough time to head off the burglars and assess the damage to his barn.  The result was a slightly twisted but still secure padlock, a bent hasp and staple but no entry or theft from the barn – the ABUS padlock had successfully thwarted another determined burglary.

The Granary Barn is 1920’s Government sponsored timber framed agricultural structure, recently renovated for general storage.  The ABUS Submariner 83WPIB/53 padlock proved a more than adequate security solution to safeguard the contents of the barn.  With an 8mm stainless steel shackle and 57mm chrome plated solid brass lock body, fully weather protected with shackle seals and cylinder cover, this padlock has the Sold Secure Bronze and CEN Grade 3 classification.

For total padlock security ABUS offers either its Granit or Rock padlock ranges. All ABUS padlocks have completely weatherproof inner workings, making them the ideal choice for securing appropriate value goods in any outdoor or marine environment.

For further information on the ABUS 83WIPB/53 or any other of our wide range of security products, including padlocks, door cylinders, meachatronic systems, and CCTV please contact ABUS UK.
