Nifylift Reaches The Spot
Contractors on a construction site in Milton Keynes were scratching their heads while trying to decide how to safely reach an installation position for a satellite receiver, when a Nifty HR15 4×4 ‘stepped in’ and saved the day.
The contractors, who had initially hired-in a larger machine from another manufacturer, had found that they couldn’t position close enough to reach the job safely and while trying to find an alternative method to reach the job, noticed the HR15 4×4 working on another part of the site. After a risk assessment and a discussion with the HR15 4×4 operators, the machine was positioned and ready to assist.
The HR15 4x4’s 180° cage rotation and cage size proved to be perfect for the task-at-hand not to mention the 9.6m of outreach allowing them to position the base on the tarmac and reach up-and-over the softer unprepared muddy ground.
The Round House, in Havering-atte-Bower, is a three storey Grade II listed late Georgian villa, and was recently in need of some important repair work to its lead guttering and roof.
Surrounded by steeply sloping grass, the Round House’s roof and guttering had proven to be very tricky to reach for its owners without causing damage to either the grass itself, or more importantly the basement rooms located underneath, greatly reducing the slope’s load supporting capacity.
In stepped Essex based Tool Hire and Access specialists Mark 1 hire, who after assessing the site offered one of the newest additions to their access fleet, the Niftylift Self Drive 120T (SD120T).
The SD120T, with its 12.2m working height and impressive 6.1m outreach, proved perfect for the job and its low weight design enabled it to manoeuvre around the historical site easily and minimal disruption to the grass. The SD120T’s hydraulic outriggers allowed it to set up and operate on the slopes, while its low overall weight (and therefore floor loadings) ensured that no damage was cause to the underground rooms.
