GMC Combi Hammer Drill
Cordless combi drills are a staple – needed by almost any trade or household you could mention. Even when they were powered by the now ancient NiCad technology, we couldn’t replace our corded drills quickly enough. But now, with Li-Ion batteries and one-hour smart-charging technology, our appetite for a wide range of drills seems limitless. Continue reading
The Draper Flexi Inspection Camera
Speaking for myself, and I hope it strikes a chord with others, I am of an age that is still amazed at the pace of technological innovation. (let’s face it, younger people are used to permanent change and innovation) It took nearly sixty years to go from the Wright Brothers to the Boeing 707, but in the last twenty years with the invention of all things digital, it is nearly a full time business trying to keep up with what is new. Keeping up is very important, since the sound use of new technology can ensure the survival of new businesses, can revitalize old businesses and ensure that new businesses find new niches and customers. NWS QuattroGripp Review
I have done some end-user and product development work on so-called “plumbers wrenches” in the past, and the thing that all users seem to value is the ability of a wrench to grip many of the oddly-shaped things that plumbers (and other trades) come across in the course of their work. Continue reading
Waterloo Tool Storage Review
Waterloo Industries is probably not a company that trips off your lips when you think about tool storage and organisation. But the truth is that their storage products are around us in a variety of guises and many users probably don’t even realise it. Continue reading
Leica Lino L2P5 Review
Don’t you hate those people at Leica Geosystems – just when you thought you had got the best out of your latest laser device, out comes a new device that is much more advanced and will do a lot more sophisticated things. You wrestle with your conscience, but deep down you know that the new device will actually work better and make your working life easier – and will probably save you time and money. Continue reading
New Fein BOP Drill Review
Surrounded by increasingly better cordless drills these days we tend to forget about the virtues of corded drills. They tend to be, weight for weight, more powerful, and sometimes more compact when delivering this power. Of course, tradespeople and DIYers like to be freed from the need for cords and extension cords, as well as the relative safety from electrical accidents, but in the real world, there are still specialist applications that need corded power to do them efficiently. Continue reading
Hitachi CS33EA Chainsaw Review
Hitachi CS33EA Chainsaw – Compact Cutting
I have had quite a lot of experience using Hitachi corded and cordless power tools and appreciate their not inconsiderable virtues. But I am a stranger to Hitachi’s range of other powered tools, so I really didn’t have any clear expectations when the CS33EA chainsaw was delivered. I needn’t have worried… Continue reading
Gator Glue Fixing Review
Glues have become a more debatable issue since I was a wee lad. When I started woodworking, I had a choice of animal glue that came in small dark pearls and had to be heated in a double boiler pot to get it ready for use, or the incredibly handy, new-fangled PVA glue that came ready mixed in a plastic bottle. This PVA was applied to the wood, cramped up and the bond was literally stronger than the wood itself. Compared to the animal glue it was a no-brainer as to which glue I chose to use. Continue reading
Wera KOLOSS Tool Review
I have commented on this before, but Wera as a company, always seems to be able to design a new “take” on a tool that gives users a much more sophisticated and efficient experience. Take the KOLOSS as an example. It is billed as “the ratchet with a hammer function”. Why one might ask? Simply because, in the way in which “pre-KOLOSS” ratchets are used in these industries, they are often used as hammers, usually resulting in damage to the tool.. Wera has therefore designed a ratchet that can be used safely as a hammer and then additionally stated that “absolutely no impact- can destroy the ratchet mechanism”. So, not only well made, but guaranteed to be indestructible. What more could a demanding consumer want? Continue reading
